Jorge Díaz Cintas

Jorge Díaz-Cintas is a Professor of Translation and the founding director (2013-2016) of the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) at University College, London. He is the author of numerous articles, special issues, and books on audiovisual translation, including Subtitling: Concepts and Practices (with Aline Remael, 2021). A pioneer in audiovisual translation, Jorge has trained future translators on six continents, he is a frequent speaker at international conferences and events, and has provided consultancy services to the European Parliament, the European Commission, OOONA, Deluxe and Netflix, among others. He is the Chief Editor of the Peter Lang New Trends in Translation Studies series, and has received the Jan Ivarsson Award (ESIST, 2014) and the Xènia Martínez Award (ATRAE, 2015) for his valuable services to the field of audiovisual translation

Joel Snyder
One of the first audio describers, Joel Snyder, Ph.D., is a true pioneer in the field of audio description. He began describing theatrical events and media in 1981. A member of Actors' Equity Association, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the Screen Actors Guild, and with a 20-year history of working as an arts specialist for the National Endowment for the Arts, he is perhaps best known internationally as one of the first "audio describers" in the world's first audio description service (1981).
Frederic Chaume is a Full Professor of Audiovisual Translation at Jaume I University and an Honorary Professor at University College London, Ricardo Palma University, and the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences. He has been teaching audiovisual translation, specifically translation and adaptation for dubbing, since 1992. He has translated over 100 audiovisual works for dubbing and subtitling. He has supervised 21 doctoral theses on this topic and has published over a hundred articles and book chapters, as well as eight books, the most recent being Doublage et sous-titrage. Guide d’une profession en plein essor, with Jean-Noël Pappens (Paris, L’Harmattan, 2021), as well as four edited special issues of journals in this field of study. He has given lectures, seminars and workshops on audiovisual translation at universities and specialized conferences on four continents. He leads the TRAMA Research Group, as well as the monograph collection of the same name, and co-directs the Language in the Digital Age collection (Peter Lang). He is also an advisor to video-on-demand platforms and companies specializing in artificial intelligence applied to dubbing. In recognition of his constant and enthusiastic work in training audiovisual translators, he has received awards such as the Luis García Berlanga (2010), the Xènia Martínez (ATRAE, 2016) and the Jan Ivarsson Award (ESIST, 2020) and has been an honorary member of the College of Translators of Peru since 2024.
